The 32nd Annual Hawaii Dinosaur Volleyball Tournament 2026

Over the past five years, the Hawaii Dinosaur Volleyball Tournament has become something I genuinely look forward to. I have played on all 7 continents, and there’s no tournament quite like this one. The combination of high-level play, old-school competition, and the laid-back Aloha spirit makes it truly special.

Playing on the beaches of Kauai and reconnecting with this community has become a yearly reset for me. This past week, not only did I get to compete, but I also had the opportunity to capture many of these moments through my lens. These images represent more than just a tournament; they reflect the community, the history, and the shared love for the game that keeps everyone coming back.

I want to extend a huge mahalo to Fonz and Alan for your incredible dedication to this event, the community, and the sport of beach volleyball.

To Jason, Aubrey, and Pierson Fox, there are not enough words to express my gratitude for the selfless work your family does each year to make this tournament possible. The love you have for the game is what makes this event feel like family.

Mahalo to David, Stephanie, Zack for the countless hours, energy, and effort you put in to running this tournament and keeping the spirit of this tournament alive.

Mahalo to Matthew Kurtgis, and Hawaii Networks for providing the live stream and Luke Rowe for setting up the cameras which allowed family and friends to watch from home.

Mahalo to Duke’s Kauai and Derek Kessler for all the work you do to contribute to this tournament.

Mahalo to Kauai beach club players and Kauai high school boys volleyball for your help with set up and tear down.

I also want to give a massive shoutout to Pierson, who helped me significantly with photography this year. I couldn’t have captured these moments without you.

I am so grateful to be able to give something back to this community that has given so much and so I share these photos freely with everyone who was part of the week.

If you come across a shot you love and want to support the work I do, any contribution is greatly appreciated. Click either button below to leave a tip.

The Aloha spirit is real, and it shows in every moment.

30th year of the Dino Tournament

As the 30th year of the Dino tournament draws to a close, I reflect on the unmatched intensity of this year's competition. With five Olympians and a diverse pool of talented athletes, the energy on the courts was electric. Despite battling rain and heat, we pushed ourselves to new limits, united by our determination and camaraderie. Meanwhile, as a photographer, capturing the raw emotion and athleticism was a thrill. Each shot freezes the electric energy fueled by these remarkable athletes. Join me on a visual journey through the highlights, where every frame tells a story of passion and love of the game.

As always David, Stephanie, Zack, and Jess put on another incredible event that will live in our hearts for ages to come. Huge thanks to all the people behind the scenes that make this tournament so fun.

Fonz!!!! you the man!!!!! Love you brother.

Big thanks to Matthew Kurtgis with Hawaii Networks for all the work he did for the live streams.

Please tag if you post :-)

Thanks to the Chaikin family for running another amazing tournament.

I have been blessed to play volleyball tournaments in all seven continents and this is my favorite tournament by far that I have been able to play in. Hopefully I get to come back every year.
