30th year of the Dino Tournament

As the 30th year of the Dino tournament draws to a close, I reflect on the unmatched intensity of this year's competition. With five Olympians and a diverse pool of talented athletes, the energy on the courts was electric. Despite battling rain and heat, we pushed ourselves to new limits, united by our determination and camaraderie. Meanwhile, as a photographer, capturing the raw emotion and athleticism was a thrill. Each shot freezes the electric energy fueled by these remarkable athletes. Join me on a visual journey through the highlights, where every frame tells a story of passion and love of the game.

As always David, Stephanie, Zack, and Jess put on another incredible event that will live in our hearts for ages to come. Huge thanks to all the people behind the scenes that make this tournament so fun.

Fonz!!!! you the man!!!!! Love you brother.

Big thanks to Matthew Kurtgis with Hawaii Networks for all the work he did for the live streams.

Empact Ohana clinic at the Dino in Kauai

What a remarkable day for all involved with the Empact Ohana clinic that had 125 littles!

Pretty wild to think two weeks before the event there were only 4 kids signed up. Then several storms brought major flooding that threatened the clinic and the Dino tournament altogether. Houses were flooded, cars were underwater, and the beach was in a State of emergency.

The community really came together on this one, and Empact Ohana could not have happened at a better time. Not only did the locals need a fun break, but we started the free clinic with a quick beach clean up to help do our part. Sand Ohana personally made and gave away 75 shirts to kids and volunteers. 50 King of the beach balls and sand champ balls were donated through their sponsorship with Mikasa.

On behalf of Sand Ohana and Empact Volleyball, we would like to thank everyone who donated their time and energy to help make this happen. Special acknowledgment to the DINO, Na Opio volleyball club, and all the volunteers who helped make this a huge success. Here are some of the images from the clinic.

The Dino Tournament 2023

What an epic Dino this year. Congratulations to all the winners.

Thanks to the Chaikin family for running another amazing tournament.

I have been blessed to play volleyball tournaments in all seven continents and this is my favorite tournament by far that I have been able to play in. Hopefully I get to come back every year.

Thanks to Mango for playing with me, and for getting me out again this year.

Thanks to Fonz for just being who you are bro. Love you man.

And also thanks to Randy for always having such kind words to say every time I see you man.

Click below for a link to all the images I shot during the tournament. Also big thanks to Siale for taking some photos while I was playing, you did a great job. I tried to photograph everyone but unfortunately, I can only be in one place at a time and if I did not get a photo of you I am sorry.

If you post on Social I would appreciate a Tag @pgburrow

Thanks

Phil

The Dino Tournament 2022

When I first arrived in Hawaii I was in awe of its beauty. The lush green forest and the picturesque beaches with waves for days. But it truly is the people that I met that won my heart. Here is a Link to the photos I shot at my first Dino Tournament. Big thanks to Mango for getting me there and for giving me a spot to crash for the event and for David and Stephanie for running a smooth event from start to finish.

David, Phil, Fonz.

At the end of the tournament they have the awards and they gave out two Aloha spirit awards, I was blessed with one of them. This award means more to me that if i had won the Tournament. It will go in my room with my other special things I have collected from big moments in my life. Good and bad. This one is a Great one.

Fonz is the man!!!! so glad I got to spend some quality time with this due!!!!

Manhattan Beach CBVA Mens Tournament, March 2022 by Philip Burrow.

Even though I didn’t play in the tournament, that did not stop me from going to the beach with my camera bag on my bicycle. Lets face it, why would I drive when gas is $6.50 per gal right now??

I had a lot of friends playing in the tournament and I love the CBVA. So win win for me. I get to be at the beach, ride my bike, watch my friends play and take photos.

What a Life!!

Here are a few pics from the day and a link to all my selects below. I hope you enjoy.

Thanks for reading.
