Orphans I met while in Myanmar

Philip Burrow Bio:

I haven’t always been a photographer.

Before I found photography, I worked as an international model, traveled the world as an almost pro beach volleyball player, dabbled in semi-pro basketball, helped construct a few homes, and worked with some of the top photographers in the world like Bruce Weber, Annie Leibovitz, Pamela Hanson, Walter Chin, and Russell James to name a few. Seeing how they interacted with the people that were involved in the shoot helped me in understanding the non-technical side of the industry which I think has been a big factor in my own journey of opening up and showing the way I see the world through my photography and my art.

In 2017, I traveled the world to play in volleyball tournaments with my good friend Jeffrey Gilbert. We played on all seven continents and, in the 28 countries we went to, got to experience a bit of the local life. In Myanmar, I saw a Burmese man buying a soccer ball for an orphanage that, with over 300 boys, only had one worn ball to play with. Inspired by him, I donated a few more and spent the rest of the day playing soccer and volleyball with the kids. This was a life-changing moment for me. It strengthened my passion for helping others, and I resolved to use photography to give back.

I’m Philip Burrow. I’m a Christian, a photographer, an athlete, and most importantly, a person hoping to help others. I use photography to help people make and record memories.
